In the Resident Evil 4 remake, players encounter a unique side objective known as The Disgrace of the Salazar Family request. This task asks Leon to vandalize a formal portrait of Ramón Salazar located inside the Castle. While many players initially attempt to destroy the painting using conventional weapons, completing the request requires a much more specific strategy.
Locating the Request Note and the Painting
The quest becomes available in Chapter 12 near the Merchant's shop by the Clock Tower gondola. Players must collect the blue request note from the wall before heading back toward the Castle's Throne Room. Once inside the Throne Room, look toward the back left corner near the throne itself to find Ramón's painting hanging on the wall.
Obtaining the Required Tool for Vandalism
Traditional attacks like firing bullets, slashing with a knife, or throwing explosives will not satisfy the request conditions. Instead, you must throw a poultry egg directly at Salazar's face. Luckily, several chickens roam the Throne Room floor and will naturally lay eggs if given enough time. You can also open the nearby cubic lockbox to acquire a Golden Egg, though using a standard chicken egg saves valuable currency.
How to Successfully Complete the Quest
Open your inventory, highlight the chicken egg, and select the equip option to turn it into a throwable projectile. Aim the egg at the portrait as you would a hand grenade and hurl it directly at Ramón's image. Upon impact, the egg splatter will deface the artwork and instantly trigger quest completion. Return to the Merchant afterward to claim your reward of four Spinels.
Important Points to Keep in Mind
Be careful not to consume the egg by accident while navigating your inventory menu. Furthermore, ensure you finish this request before boarding the gondola to the Clock Tower, as taking the transport marks a point of no return for Castle exploration. If you accidentally consume or lose your egg, simply wait inside the Throne Room for one of the chickens to lay another one.
